The principle of operation is by lever or pump action. The round suction cups are pressed onto the clean, dry, non-porous surface of the object to be lifted. The lever grip is squeezed together or the cam levers are flipped into position. The rubber pads are then securely clamped to the surface by vacuum. To release, just flip back the levers.
Loads need to be smooth, relatively flat and non-porous. Surfaces should be free of oil, grease or water, otherwise slipping can occur. Nonporous materials such as glass, metal, Formica, plastics, fiberglass, linoleum and polished stone are good examples. The grip these suction cups obtain on a load surface is amazingly strong and has to be experienced to be appreciated. Semi-porous materials require using our air-powered hand vacuum cups.
